Game Day

Well, not exactly game day as I am sure tonite’s first class will be largely about how not to fall flat on our arses.

But still, I am pretty distracted and can’t wait for tonite.

One of the things I most enjoy about sports is all the little unique rituals that each sport has. And tonite I will start to learn the little habits of hockey. From doing up my chin strap to tapping my stick on the ice to even taking a drink a water and spitting it out on the ice. Man! I might as well be walking on to the ice for a Game 7 I am so pumped!

So there you go! I’ll be posting tomorrow with a first night recap.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who has offered advice and tips on the order with which to put on my equipment!

Have you decided what type of player you want to be? Goal-scorer? Defense-first? Tough guy?

I think after the first night I would like to be the type of player that doesn’t need to use the boards to stop!

A note about ‘The Rocket’

A few people have asked me what's up with the image at the top of the page. Well, it's an image courtesy of Marc Audet. Along with being a weird hybrid Calgary Flames and Ottawa Senators fan, he is also one of the region's top illustrators. You can check out more of his work at Rocket 57
